Kicking a moving ball.

Set-up:
Players line up 15-20 steps in front of the goal.
Coach places the ball 10-15 steps to one side, about 5-10 steps out from the goal.

The Drill:
1. Coach shouts "Go" and rolls or passes the ball straight across (parallel to the goal)
2. On "Go", the first player in line starts his/her run forward to intercept the ball.
3. The player kicks the ball into the net.
4. The Shooter either runs to retrieve the ball or goes to the back of the line.

Passing and dribbling the ball.

Set-up:
Players line up in two lines 15-20 steps in front of the goal and 10-15 steps apart.

The Drill:
1. Coach shouts "Go" the player with the ball passes the ball to the other player first in line
2. Both players run towards the net passing the ball back and forth
3. The player who started with the ball kicks the ball into the net.
4. Both players run up the side line and return to opposite lines.

Throw _Ins.

Set-up:
Players line up in two lines 7-15 steps apart (depending on age) shoulder to shoulder arms length apart facing each other.

The Drill:
1. Coach hands the ball to the first player and instructs the player to throw the ball across to the next player
2. That player throws the ball to the next player in a zigzag pattern
3. While the players are throwing the ball the coach should be watching and encouraging the following
- high throw-ins that would go over an opponent's head; not a throw-in toward the ground
- keeping both feet on the ground
- two hands on the ball and throwing over their head
- When the ball goes behind the head, elbows should be pointing out to the side (this gives power)

Dribbling, foot stops, pull backs, using outside of foot.

Set-up:
Use cones to outline a 20 step x 20-step "field". (Smaller or larger, depending on age & numbers of players,
All players line up at the four corners.

The Drill:
1. Coach blows the whistle to start and four players enter the field with a ball each
2. Coach gives instruction on what to do using the following list for a short time
3. Switch the players

"Go" - Start dribbling ("Keep the ball near your feet & look up while you dribble so you don't run into someone").

“Stop" - Put foot on top of ball to stop it

"Slow" - Dribble slowly

"Speed Up"- Dribble faster but keep looking up

"Turn right" - Use the outside of the right foot to push the ball to the right & then dribble in that direction. (This teaches them to stop & turn the ball using the outside of the foot). Be sure they know left from right

"Turn left"- Use the outside of the left foot to push the ball to the left & then dribble in that direction. (If players get confused about which is right & left, it's okay).

"Pull back & go the other way" - Use the bottom of foot to pull the ball back & then turn around & go the other way.
