What is NMS ? ---We are a volunteer run community soccer league operating on the James Street play Field behind the Kinsman Northwood Center. Players come from all over the city but most are from Northwood. There are similar programs run through out the city such are Volunteer Pool, Current River Rec., Tarbutt Street  and Maple Leaf.

Who can play ? ---We are open to both boys and girls from ages 4 to 12 . (age is determined by year of birth, divisions are shown above) All teams and divisions are co-ed.

Do we still need a copy of the players birth certificate? --- No! We no longer need the birth certificate to register a player. We do require the parent or guardians signature, the player's health card number and the fee of $35.00. Cheques are payable to Northwood Mini Soccer.

What equipment is required? ---SHIN GUARDS ARE MANDATORY FOR ALL DIVISIONS! Soccer cleats may be worn in Atoms and Mosquitoes only.

Can I drop off my child off and pick them up after the game? --- NO! Parental supervision is required. The coach is not a baby sitter and doesn't take attendance. They supervise the on field play only. You should be there to supervise your child when their line is off the field or in need of assistance.

What skill level is required? --- No soccer experience is required. This is a fun league, the focus is on recreation and keeping kids physically active.

Where do we play ?--- All games are played on the James Street Play Field. Also referred to as  The Northwood Multi Purpose Facility  or  The Kinsmen Northwood Center. (609 North James Street) Washrooms are located in the center via the northwest door.

When do we play? --- Games are played on Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 for Smurfs and Tykes and  7:30 for Atoms and Mosquitoes. Games are one hour long including warm ups.  The season starts Thursday May 6th, field conditions permitting, and runs till Thursday June 24th. A fun tournament and BBQ will be held  Saturday June 26th.

What is the cost? --- The cost is $35.00 . This covers all our costs and includes the team shirt which they keep and lunch at the Saturday BBQ.

Can I be on my friend's team? --- Yes! This year we will allow you to list one (1) friend that you would like to be on the same team. In the past we didn't put a limit on the number and it got a little out of hand, causing many hours of work sorting teams. Please also make your choice a good one. Make sure your friend is playing this year. Check that they are in the same age group and spell their name correctly.

Do we fund raise? --- No.  So far we have not had to do any fund raising. We are a small executive and our season is quite short our energy is used up just organizing the league. We have received help from Companies such as Wilson's Business Solutions, Tim Hortons, that have enabled us to keep our costs down.

Can I coach my kids team?--- Yes! All of our coaches are the parent or relative of a player on there team! We will do our best to help you out as well. -Your child's best friend can be on the same team and the parent's can co-coach if that will help. -Many coaches work shifts and have an assistant that takes over. -Mom and Dad can co-coach. -There is no cost to coach. We provide the coaches shirts, whistle, team ball and training.
